Happiness Wins

So my last post was about excitement and you’ve probably already figured out that this current post will be about Happiness and how it Wins. Funny you say, well in-fact yes it is funny. Why you ask, well because things that are funny create happiness. The crazy thing is that happiness is created by millions and maybe even billions or trillions of things. This means that happiness wins a trillion times too. This has potential to be a reoccurring topic because everyone can use a dab of happiness on occasion.

Happiness Wins: Today I was driving my sweet car, to my sweet job, in my sweet city. BTW, everything was sweet this morning and I was happy. A familiar fun song comes through the speakers and I begin to smile and jive to the beat. My happiness level increased because I like to dance in the car and I knew some of the song lyrics. As I approach my office there was ample parking and a spot for me up front. Bottom line, at this point in my day I’m very happy and feeling very good about the day ahead. Fast-forward a bit, took care of some work, brokered a few meetings internally and was handed a couple solid referrals for new business before I decided to leave for Philz to grab a Yerba Mate.

On my way to Philz, I ended up behind a very slow driver. This very slow driver was also ultra cautious at the intersections. For some reason this very slow and cautious driver also wouldn’t turn right until the light was green even when the coast was clear. As the cars piled up behind me and the coast became clearer and clearer, I gave a quick toot with my horn. Nothing. Then the cars behind me began honking. Again, nothing. Finally the light turned green, students began to fill the crosswalk and the coast wasn’t clear anymore. Back to waiting. At that moment I felt the urge deep within me to do what most drivers would want to do in those situations and really express my thoughts by way of more honking or even yelling in the car (which nobody should yell in the car, unless you’re singing), but then I remembered just how sweet and happy my day really was. Even down to the smallest feeling of being healthy and having someone to love, I remembered that happiness wins. And it did.

So I waited patiently and smiled to myself knowing that my sweet day will just keep being sweet if I allow it to be. If you feel like bursting or if things become unpleasant, just think about and remember the things that make you happy because happiness wins.
